The Kanata Sports Club is a nonprofit organization located in the beautiful city of Kanata, Ontario. The purposes and objectives of the Club have always been:
- to promote amateur sports within the City of Kanata and surrounding area;
- to promote the principles of good sportsmanship and good fellowship
- to take an active interest in the sports, social and moral welfare of the community
- to acquire, operate, maintain and manage on a nonprofit basis, facilities for the pleasure and benefit of the community
The Kanata Sports Club is managed by a board of directors, all of whom are volunteers, and a dedicated team of volunteer staff members. Their commitment to the goals of the Club is evident and is a good indicator of the way members feel about the service that our organization provides to the community. Also committed to the mandate of the Kanata Sports Club are its members. The Kanata Sports Club currently has over eight hundred and fifty (850) members, all of whom support it and the community as a whole through their membership fees, patronage and participation in events.
Since its inception in 1987, the Kanata Sports Club has donated over $1,500,000 to local sports groups, community and health organizations and various related projects. The Kanata Sports Club members, board and staff are extremely proud of these accomplishments and are devoted to continuing this progress. In addition to monetary donations, the Club participates in joint projects such as senior's events and corporate barbecues and many other fundraising events.
The clubhouse at 10 McKitrick Drive is open seven days a week to accommodate social and special activities for members and community organizations. The Club hosts many regular events occur over the year including:
- A Mixed Dart League
- Men's, women's and youth hockey and softball registration, banquets and after-sport social activities
- Euchre nights
- Trivia Nights;
- Fundraisers;
- Friday noon "Hot Seats" from October to April featuring Y101 radio personality Mark Papousek interviewing high profile guests from the sports community (such as Ottawa Senators players and personnel and local media personalities)
