The Kanata Sports Club is located above the Jack Charron Arena in beautiful Kanata, Ontario.
It is managed by a board of directors, all of who are volunteers, and a dedicated team of volunteer staff members. Their commitment to the goals of the Club is evident and is a good indicator of the way members feel about the service that our organization provides to the community. The Kanata Sports Club currently has eight hundred (800) members, all of whom support it and the community as a whole through their membership fees, patronage and participation in events.
Since its inception, the Kanata Sports Club has donated over $1.3 million to local sports groups, community and health organizations and various related projects. The Kanata Sports Club members, board and staff are extremely proud of these accomplishments and are devoted to continuing this progress. In addition to monetary donations, the Club participates in joint projects such as the John Sutherland Charity Golf Tournament which has realized more than $150,000.00 for the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation, and provides services at community functions such as senior's events and corporate barbecues, to name just a few examples.
The lounge at 10 McKitrick Drive is open seven days a week to accommodate social and special activities for members and community organizations. The Club hosts many regular events over the year including:
- Men's, women's and youth hockey and softball registration, banquets and after-sport social activities
- Musical Performances and Comedy Nights
- Friday noon "Hot Seats" from October to April featuring Y101 radio personality Mark Papousek interviewing high profile guests from the sports community (such as Ottawa Senators players and personnel and local media personalities)
- Members use Club facilities for birthday, anniversary and other types of parties.
The Club also participates in the Kanata Holidays Parade, holds a children’s Christmas party and runs many other special events throughout the year.
